Marie Violet has been associated with Dignity Health Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City since 1981. As an ASPO Certified Childbirth Educator, she taught pre-natal classes, facilitated the New Parent’s Group, and created the Sibling Preparation Classes. In 1994 she joined the Health & Wellness Services Department and in 1995 she was appointed the Department’s Director.

 

Sequoia’s Health & Wellness Center is located in downtown Redwood City and serves newborns through seniors.  This department is responsible for planning and implementing community benefit programs and initiatives within the hospital’s service area for both broad and vulnerable communities with disproportionate unmet health related needs.  Programs include Chronic Disease Prevention and Management, Healthy Aging, Child/Youth Healthy Development and Community Building.  Marie manages the annual Dignity Health Sequoia Hospital Community Grants Program for non-profit organizations.

 

Marie is dedicated to developing strong collaborative relationships with community partners who share resources and demonstrate ongoing commitment to shared goals.  She is co-chair of the Healthy Community Collaborative of San Mateo County which oversees the triennial Community Health Needs Assessment.  She also participates on School Wellness Committees, Fall Prevention Coalition of San Mateo County, Human Trafficking Program of San Mateo County and San Mateo County Paratransit Coordinating Council.

 

Marie received her BS in Occupational Therapy from San Jose State University and specialized in pediatrics.
